FAQ

FAQs about bringing a pet to Japan

Why does Japan take 8 months?
Pets entering Japan must have an RNATT rabies antibody titre test taken no earlier than 180 days and no later than 2 years before arrival, after two rabies vaccinations. You also need an import permit and a confirmed kennel at the port-of-entry quarantine station; kennels are limited and usually need booking 1–2 months ahead. Pets are quarantined for 7 days on arrival.
How will my pet be transported to Japan?
Depending on your pet's size and the airline, pets travel in the cabin or as checked baggage. Our team will arrange the most suitable option for you.
What happens after landing in Japan?
On arrival in Japan, your pet is taken to the quarantine station for inspection or quarantine. We arrange local customs clearance and onward pickup.
