Red-shouldered Macaw Relocation to the UK

Red-shouldered Macaw Relocation to the UK

This is James, a red-shouldered macaw (Diopsittaca nobilis), an Appendix II endangered species, settling into his new UK home. From applying for endangered-species import/export documents, home quarantine, on-site avian influenza sampling and health certificate issuance, flight arrangements, arrival clearance, AFCD document endorsement to airport check-in, the whole process took over half a year. The owner\u2019s family trusted us and cooperated actively to make it possible together.

Parrots are CITES-regulated species, and the UK has strict import controls on birds (including avian-influenza-related requirements), so applying for endangered-species documents, quarantine and flight arrangements are more complex than for ordinary pets, usually requiring six months or more of preparation. Canlife is familiar with transporting different parrot species and can handle the full set of documents. For the complete parrot-to-the-UK process, see Parrot Relocation to the UK: Process & Steps.
